Potato Park Protocol (Peru)

The Potato Park Biocultural Protocol was developed in Peru to protect Traditional Knowledge and biocultural heritage. The Protocol is an inter-community agreement for building equitable access, benefit sharing and sustainable economies based on biocultural goods and services. The protocol was developed by Asociación ANDES (Peru), the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), and the Potato Park incorporating the customary rights and principles of Indigenous Andean communities for maintaining biocultural systems including reciprocity, duality and equilibrium. The protocol implements the Nagoya protocol at the local level.
