Institutional Implementation & Metadata Lead
Ali Spangler currently acts as the Institutional Implementation & Metadata Lead for the Local Contexts project at New York University. She works as a Collections Management Consultant for museums and cultural institutions such as Voices in Contemporary Art (VoCA, New York) and The Jewish Museums (NY). She holds a B.A. in Art + Visual Culture and Photography from Bates College as well as an M.A. in Museum Studies from New York University. Spangler’s graduate research centered around the inclusion of the living artist’s voice as an integral component to collection stewardship, documentation and archiving. Her professional background is primarily rooted in contemporary art collections management, working with living artists to understand best stewardship practices of their artwork. She has carried out this activity at The Museum of Modern Art (NY), The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (NY), and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (San Francisco, CA).
