October 2025 Updates

Minor Update

On October 1, 2025 UTC, the Local Contexts Hub had scheduled service. Read the latest post on the update here. If you encounter any issues, please let us know at support@localcontexts.org.

Important Changes

  • Researchers connecting their ORCID accounts now pushes their public hub account to ORCID that is displayed on their profile as “Other IDs”. Researcher accounts who previously connected their ORCID will need to re-establish this connection.
  • Project Identifiers section on the Project create/edit pages have been updated:
    • Added support for Archival Resource Key (ARK) identifiers.
    • Users can now add unlimited amounts of any kind of identifier to their Projects.
    • Users can now add customized IDs with the “Other” option.
    • These fields have been added to the API. The previous fields will remain for some time.
  • Project Contributors section on the Project create/edit pages have been updated:
    • Individual Hub users can now be added as contributors.
    • External contributors’ emails are now hidden. They can now be emailed by logged-in users.
    • Individual contributors (researchers, Hub users, and external users) will now have the ability to designate roles per Project.

Other Changes

  • The registry can now be searched by country.
  • Account “members” is now “users” throughout the Hub.
  • Added alert for users with existing researcher accounts that have previously connected their ORCID to update the connection in their settings.
  • UI of Project contributors and external IDs updated for the “View Project” page.
  • Updated Project List API search for publication_doi and providers_id to include the updated external IDs field. Search values for these two parameters will search through both the old and new fields.
  • New doi search parameter added for future use.
  • Improved integration partner account image visibility by moving the certified integration partner logo to the right side of the account images and changed base image to icon. On hover, icon will expand to full logo.

Bug Fixes

  • “User” bundle removed from subscription settings for researcher accounts.
  • Updated Inquiry form error messages to provide more details if an error occurs.
  • Fixed Project descriptions in Chrome going off of the Project card on the “View Project” page.
  • Fixed issue for some users trying to register for the Hub with Google Authentication and username/password for the same email.
  • Fixed issue were users were getting an error when trying to logout from the Hub.
  • Fixed error when user would try submitting an inquiry form from the subscriptions settings page for institution/researcher accounts.
  • Fixed bug where institutions in the ROR search list were showing “N/A”.
  • Fixed bug where new user could not be added to an account through the “Add a new user” modal.
