Benefit sharing: Why inclusive provenance metadata matter

A new journal article published today speaks to the need to establish Indigenous data provenance in genetic research.

Co-authored by Local Contexts team members and collaborators, the article emphasizes the importance of connecting Digital Sequence Information (DSI) with provenance as a way to enhance benefit sharing and to support Indigenous Data Sovereignty.

The article appears in the ELSI (Ethical, Legal, and Social Issues) in Science and Genetics Section in the journal Frontiers in Genetics as part of a research topic, Toward a Better Understanding and Application of Benefit Sharing in Genomic and Global Health Research.
