Local Contexts is excited to participate in RightsCon 2025, taking place from February 24 to 27 online and in Taipei, Taiwan. This global summit focuses on human rights in the digital age, bringing together experts and advocates to discuss pressing issues.

Our session, “Supporting Indigenous Cultural Authority and Data Sovereignty,” will explore:

• Examine challenges within data and information infrastructures that affect the identification and access of Indigenous collections and data.
• Introduce the goals of Local Contexts and our suite of Labels and Notices designed to support Indigenous rights.
• Share examples of how Indigenous communities, institutions, and researchers worldwide are utilizing the Local Contexts system to uphold cultural authority and data sovereignty.
