We are excited to announce that Amy June Breesman (she/her) has joined Local Contexts as our Help Desk Lead!
Amy June (Eastern Shawnee/German/Irish) is passionate about asserting the inherent rights of Indigenous people around the world in their traditional knowledge and bio-cultural asset areas. In this new role, Amy June will focus on problem solving, improving functionality, and refining legibility when new subscribers, members and service providers are being onboarded to the Local Contexts Hub. She is excited to have the opportunity to continue bridge building between researchers and communities, supporting our mission to accurately pursue attribution and provenance of Indigenous data.
Amy June’s formal studies are in the fine arts, but her life has taken her on a winding professional road through the construction industry and project management, to farming, and most recently to agricultural and social research. Her most recent role was helping to develop an inaugural Land Relations program at the Land Institute, integrating culturally responsive frameworks and Indigenous data sovereignty focus into crop breeding programs.
Please join us in welcoming Amy June to the Local Contexts team as we look forward to her leadership in our work making Local Contexts work for people!
