NYU Film Screening and Discussion

In partnership with Local Contexts and Center CIRCL, NYU Libraries is excited to present a screening of the short documentary Awasəwehlαwə́lətinα wikəwαmok | They Returned Home, followed by a discussion with Dr. Jordan Kinder, Assistant Professor of Media, Culture, and Communications. The film charts the groundbreaking work undertaken by the Penobscot Nation to restore Penobscot cultural authority within institutions in Maine and beyond. As part of the event, we will also highlight the Local Contexts Hub, a tool for supporting Indigenous Data Sovereignty that’s newly available to researchers at NYU.

The screening will be held at 20 Cooper Square, 3rd Floor Lounge, and will be followed by refreshments and an opportunity to view and experiment with the Local Contexts Hub tool.

More information about the Local Contexts tools and Indigenous Data Sovereignty are included in NYU Libraries’ resource guide.

Register to attend on the NYU Libraries website.
