A graphic with a yellow and teal background divided into two sections, each featuring a quote. On the left: A quote from Stephany RunningHawk Johnson (Oglala Lakota Nation), Founding Executive Director of Local Contexts, reads: "At Local Contexts, we believe that Indigenous communities should be connected with their data. Working with ORCID to give researchers greater access to make and maintain those connections is really exciting and an opportunity to amplify Indigenous voices." Below the quote are the Local Contexts logo and Stephany’s name and title. On the right: A quote from Chris Shillum, Executive Director of ORCID, reads: "One of ORCID’s three values is Inclusivity, so we are delighted to be working with Local Contexts to help researchers demonstrate that they respect the CARE Principles and support the rights of Indigenous Peoples to exert greater control over Indigenous data and Indigenous Knowledge." Below the quote is the ORCID logo and Chris Shillum’s name and title.

In the article “Local Contexts and ORCID Partner to Advance Indigenous Data Sovereignty,” authored by Julie Petro, Director of Communications at ORCID, Local Contexts and ORCID announce a new cooperation agreement to promote the CARE Principles for Indigenous Data Governance and the use of Local Contexts Labels and Notices throughout the research data lifecycle.

Through this partnership, ORCID has become a Founding Supporter of Local Contexts, and Local Contexts has joined ORCID as a member organization.
