The journey to support Indigenous data sovereignty is a multi-generational effort. We are working to ensure that Local Contexts is here – the Labels and Notices, the Hub, and the team – for the duration of this effort.

Earlier this year, we launched our Subscriber program, a pillar of our sustainability plan, alongside our governance and our staff pillars.

We are excited to reach the milestone of our first 10 subscribers! These organizations have decided to become part of the solution by taking action to engage in collaborative curation with Indigenous communities to review their collections and utilize Engagement, Disclosure, and Collections Care Notices.

These marvelous 10 subscribers are based in Australia, Canada, and the United States. They are colleges and universities, museums, archives, herbaria, and government agencies dedicated to managing natural and cultural resources. Here is the list, with a link to their Hub account and as-of-writing information on their use of Notices and creation of public Hub Projects for collaborative curation purposes.

Our goal is to increase our Subscriber base by another power of 10 over the next six months. We’d love for you to join the Indigenous data sovereignty movement, too. Contact us at info@localcontexts.org to get started.
