Welcoming Seth Kurke, Communications & Marketing Lead
We are excited to announce that Seth Kurke has joined Local Contexts as the Communications & Marketing Lead.
Seth (Blackfeet/European descendant) is dedicated to advancing Indigenous Data Sovereignty. In his role, he will focus on building relationships between institutions and Indigenous communities while creating global awareness campaigns to amplify Indigenous knowledge. He will also manage our social media presence and website content to further our mission and engage a wider audience.
He holds a Master’s in Library and Information Science from the University of Washington, where his Capstone project addressed misrepresentations in cataloging systems that marginalize Indigenous topics. Previously, Seth worked at Documentary Educational Resources, contributing to the Indigenous Studies Film Initiative, which aimed to enhance access to culturally relevant media for Indigenous audiences.
Seth has a wife Boni and four children: Amara (9), Lennox (7), John (5), and Juliet (2). He is a youth sports coach in the evenings and weekends, and loves to spend time with family cooking and listening to his vinyl record collection.
Please join us in welcoming Seth Kurke to Local Contexts as we look forward to his leadership in our communications and marketing efforts.
