Emily Santhanam (she/her) joins Local Contexts as Outreach Coordinator (Americas). Within this role, Emily supports multifaceted outreach efforts by cultivating and sustaining Local Contexts’ network of Indigenous communities, institutions, and researchers. Her goal is to support engagement with and promotion of Indigenous data sovereignty through the adoption of TK and BC Labels and Notices.
Emily earned a BA in Anthropology and Creative Writing from Stanford University in 2016. Prior to her involvement with Local Contexts, she worked in multiple curatorial and research capacities for cultural organizations and museums across the country, including: Chickasaw Cultural Center, School for Advanced Research, Museum of Indian Arts and Culture, and Harwood Museum of Art.
