Sciences and the Sacred: Indigenous Data Sovereignty and Knowledge Stewardship

The Hawaiʻi Sea Grant Ulana ‘Ike Center of Excellence and the Biocultural Initiative of the Pacific are hosting an online seminar series that will feature Indigenous practitioners from continental and oceanic nations to advance ’Ōiwi data sovereignty efforts.

The series kicks off on April 7 at 6 pm HST with O Ke Kahua Ma Mua, Ma Hope O Ke Kūkulu: What is Indigenous Data Sovereignty? 

One of the speakers will be Local Contexts Co-Director Māui Hudson (Whakatōhea). The other speaker will be the Native Nations Institute’s Associate Director (and 2020-2021 ENRICH Global Chair) Dr. Stephanie Russo Carroll (Ahtna-Native Village of Kluti-Kaah). The talk will be moderated by University of Hawai’i Mānoa Associate Professor Dr. Rosie Alegado (Kanaka ’Ōiwi).
