Welcoming Rose Barrowcliffe, Community Councilor

We are excited to announce that Rose Barrowcliffe has joined Local Contexts as a Community Councilor Member!

Rose (Butchulla-Wonamutta) holds a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in the Department of Critical Indigenous Studies at Macquarie University and is an Honorary Senior Research Fellow in the School of Languages and Cultures at the University of Queensland. Her research centers on the representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in archives, and she is committed to promoting Indigenous self-determination through data and knowledge stewardship.

In 2021, Rose was appointed the inaugural First Nations Archives Advisor to the Queensland State Archives (QSA), playing a vital role in supporting the Queensland Government’s Path to Treaty initiative. Rose’s contributions guide the use of records for Indigenous self-determination in support of the Treaty process and beyond.

We are thrilled to have Rose on the Local Contexts team, where her leadership will help further our mission of advancing Indigenous Data Sovereignty. Please join us in welcoming her!
