Notices in Use: Karen Jamieson Dance

The Attribution Incomplete and Open to Collaborate Notices have been applied by Karen Jamieson Dance, a dance company based in Canada on the unceded traditional territory of the Coast Salish People; Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations.

The Attribution Incomplete Notice has been applied to 12 works from the last three decades, detailed online on their website. An example of one such work which we show here is “Raven of the Railway” (2001).

On their website, the company writes:

“The work of Karen Jamieson Dance has long been engaged in practices of cross-cultural collaboration with community groups and cultural institutions, often interacting with the land through site-specific works that involve deep engagement with people and place. …

These notices identify collaborative choreographic works that have incomplete, inaccurate, or missing attributions, and express our dedication to an ongoing process of ensuring proper documentation and representation through continuous partnerships with artists and communities.”
